You can Signup from here. You have two options, either you can directly sign up and fill up the details or you can connect through your Facebook account. If you use the latter, you can update some of your profile details under the Edit Profile section in order to make the best use of our features.

Yes, we all have multiple intellectual interests. On sign up, you will be asked to choose a default interest. In order to pursue more interests, select any other interest from the dropdown on top of your page; and click "Add Interest" in the interest page. Your Interest list will also be displayed in your profile. Unless you add you will not be able to post any objects or participate in debates in that interest.

While every user writes interesting information about your interests, there are some users whose objects you would like to read in particular. At Intellitrest, we call followers as Intellectual Peers. Go to the person's profile you would like to follow and click "Add As Peer". In your profile, the people you add as peer will be shown under "Following" and the people who add you as peer will be shown under "Followers".

Any information that you find interesting, intellectual and related to an interest. Share interesting trivia, latest news, book reviews, external links, embeddable objects from the popular social media platforms such as Youtube, SlideShare, Scribd, Flickr and many others.

Please note that you need to add the interest to be able to create objects. You can add that interest to your list by clicking on 'Add Interest' button on top of the interest home page.

Other users can comment on your objects and provide their rating leading to an intellectual buzz around your objects.

Intelli5 is a wiki style information portlet...

Intelli5 is a wiki style information portlet but restricted to just five important points on a topic. While Wiki articles are fact based, Intelli5 can be opinion based. We all have our intellectual opinions about various topics, and would like and no one will take it out from the article for not being backed up by facts. You write it according to what you want to share, your views on a topic, your own research or maybe you want to focus on a particular aspect of a topic, Intelli5 is completely user based. Also, unlike Wiki where many users edit the same page, Intelli5 is one page per user per topic. Obviously, since each individual has their own point of view, the page is not shared.

The link to 'Create a new Intelli5' is displayed on top of the page below navigation tabs in the Intell5 section. The option to edit the Intelli5 objects are shown on the view page. You can edit objects that you have created. Please note that you need to add the interest to be able to create objects. You can add that interest to your list by clicking on 'Add Interest' button on top of the interest home page.

Other users can perform actions such as write new comments and provide their rating from the right hand side section on the object page. You can get badges awarded if other users love your debate or if you create an intellectual storm among the users.

Oxford style debates follow a specific...

Oxford style debates follow a specific structure to avoid deviation from the purpose of the debate. There are three participants

• The Proposer (for the motion)
• The Opposition (against the motion).
• The Moderator (regulator)

Once the debate starts, The Moderator gives the opening statement and is followed by The Proposer who in turn is followed by The Opposition. In a similar fashion, the three give the rebuttal and then the closing statement.

The in-built workflow will inform participants through email about the next steps when the previous step is complete. If you are the object owner, you will have the option of deciding who can participate in your debate.

To be a participant, ensure two things.

• You need to join the Interest under which the Debate is taking place.
• If you are a Facebook User, you need to update your e-mail details from Edit Profile section.

Once you find an open debate, click join under the desired position (i.e. Proposer, Moderator or Opposition).

You can create your own debate by clicking on 'Create new Debate' link under the navigation tabs in the debate section. While creating the debate you can choose your role in the debate. You can switch your role while editing the debate if the other role is available.

You can remove participants from the debate if you had created the debate, so as to give you the control whom to debate with.

Although the other users will not be a participating in...

Although the other users will not be a participating in the debate per se, they can contribute by giving their opinion about the topic through comments and voting for the participants. Also, the users have the option of changing their votes for the participants during the debate. Please note this vote is different from the star rating shown for the object.

You can perform your actions such as create new comments and vote from the right hand side section on the object page.

External feed is for sharing articles, videos, pictures...

External feed is for sharing articles, videos, pictures from external sources such as YouTube, SlideShare, Flickr, Google etc. You can embed objects or share links related to the interest.

You can create your own external feed by clicking on 'Create new external feed' link under the navigation tabs in the feed section. You can also edit your objects from the view page, the link to edit is shown along with create link.

Choose Embed Object in the type drop down if you are posting an external media object. The external media site will have an embed code for the objects.

You can also post external articles by choosing the URL option in the drop down. The platform automatically captures certain information from the link and is shown to you for selection.

Books are an intellectual's best friends. Here you can search for your favourite intellectual book from any interest, give your reviews, read other reviews, comment and rate other reviews.

You can search for any book related to the interest from the Bookclub home page by entering the search text and click on Book Search button. The list of relevant books is shown in the listings page. Click on any book and all user reviews for that book are shown in the book specific page. You can create your review for the book by clicking on create review link on the page. Your reviews are shown seperately above other reviews so that you can find and edit them easily.
